Here is a gorgeous hand carved upright piano ready for restoration built in 1907. It is a rich walnut with intricate wood detailing. It was manufactured by the Schaff Brothers Piano Company.

The Schaff Brothers Piano Company was established in 1868 in Huntington, Indiana. By the turn-of-the-century, Schaff Brothers was building a full line of upright pianos and player pianos. Schaff Brothers was known as building very high quality, expensive pianos that possess remarkable tone qualities. By the late 1920's, Schaff Brothers was owned by the large Rudolph Wurlitzer Piano Company, and Wurlitzer managed to pull Schaff Brothers through the Great Depression era. Wurlitzer continued to produce pianos under the Schaff Brothers name until World War II.

The case designs are chaste and beautiful, and the construction is in the best sense durable and reliable. Schaff Bros. instruments are made in uprights and player pianos and they have a record of perfect satisfaction. The Schaff Bros. grown steadily and its progress has developed the musical qualities of the piano without so far advancing the prices as to dwarf their great popularity.
